Diagnose before replacing.
I would rather understand why something failed than fire the parts cannon and hope.
GRINNING FROGELECTRONICS
ABOUT THE BENCH // SETH ESQUIEU
I’m Seth, an electronics engineer in Woodstown, New Jersey. For more than fifteen years, I’ve designed, tested, repaired, and occasionally argued with electronics for a living.
Grinning Frog Electronics is where I bring that experience directly to people and businesses with hardware that needs more investigation than the usual repair counter can give it.
THE USEFUL PART
My professional background spans embedded systems, industrial electronics, PCB design, board-level troubleshooting, firmware, RF power systems, controls, test equipment, and the fixtures and rigs needed to prove any of it actually works.
I’ve worked from both ends of the problem: designing new hardware from a blank page and tracing failures through equipment that has already lived a hard life. That combination matters. A good repair needs an understanding of how the thing was meant to work; a good design needs an understanding of how things fail.
This is an independent bench, not a volume repair shop. You talk directly to the person doing the work, and unusual projects are welcome.
HOW I WORK
“The goal isn’t to make the bench look busy. It’s to understand the problem and leave you with something that works.”
I would rather understand why something failed than fire the parts cannon and hope.
Repairs and custom hardware should survive the environment they are going back into.
If replacement, a different approach, or stopping before the bill climbs is the sensible answer, I’ll tell you.
